Marburg virus disease is a zoonotic disease that has resulted in several outbreaks. It has the potential to cause severe disease and death in humans. The 2018 annual review of the WHO R&D Blueprint list of priority diseases indicates that there is an urgent need for accelerated research and development for the Marburg virus. This introductory course provides an overview of the signs, symptoms, transmission routes, diagnosis, and epidemiology of the disease. It also discusses prevention and control strategies.
