    The CDC confirmed a case of Monkeypox in Dallas Texas on July 15th in an individual who traveled from Nigeria on Delta Airlines. The CDC is working with the air carrier and state and local health officials in Texas to reach those who may have been in contact with the patient during two flights: from Lagos, Nigeria, to Atlanta on July 8, with arrival July 9; and Atlanta to Dallas Love Field Airport on July 9. Public health authorities said they have identified and are contacting individuals who were in direct contact with the patient.

    Ebola Outbreak Statement 2021

    The WHO stated on 10 October, 2021, "On 8 October 2021, the Ministry of Health of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) announced that a new laboratory confirmed case of Ebola virus disease (EVD) had been detected in Butsili Health Area, Beni Health Zone in North Kivu Province. Earlier this year, an EVD outbreak affected North Kivu Province which was declared over on 3 May 2021 (WHO)."

    Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

On 31 December 2019, the WHO China Country Office was informed of cases of pneumonia of unknown etiology (unknown cause) detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province of China. A novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was identified as the causative virus by Chinese authorities on 7 January (WHO).

    Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is a viral respiratory disease caused by a novel coronavirus (referred to as MERS-CoV) that was first identified in Saudi Arabia in 2012. Common symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath, though gastrointestinal symptoms and pneumonia have also been reported (WHO).
