In 2025, the National Emerging Special Pathogens Training & Education Center’s (NETEC) Biocontainment Unit (BCU) Leadership Workgroup established the Occupational & Employee Health Task Force to focus on occupational and employee health initiatives at the 13 Regional Emerging Special Pathogens Treatment Centers (RESPTCs). Over the course of the year, the task force collated established practices and opportunities for improvement of employee health processes for healthcare workers providing special pathogen care. The following white paper summarizes the findings, describes practices for sites establishing occupational and employee health programs for special pathogen care providers, and offers examples for reference.
