Description
Viruses can be found in the bodies of patients who die of VHF and can be transmitted in postmortem care settings through direct handling of human remains without recommended personal protective equipment (PPE) and through splashes of blood or other body fluids (urine, saliva, feces, or vomit) to unprotected mucosa such as eyes nose or mouth. This document is intended to serve as a planning tool and resource in conjunction with local city or state public health guidance and your Regional Emerging Special Pathogen Treatment Center (RESPTC).
