Hospitalized patients, particularly those who are critically ill, are at risk for ‘secondary’ infections(1, 2). Initial reports of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 indicate that 10-33% develop bacterial pneumonia(3, 4) and 2-6% develop bloodstream infection (BSI)(5, 6).
